Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress, dancer and singer. The first Broadway roles included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh has been collaborating in projects with award-winning directors, actors and producers throughout the course of her professional career. Ashford is scheduled to be as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's current project will be Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway on March 20, 2023 in which he'll be starring alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the crisis in America that picked up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters in the country's first impeachment proceedings in over 100 years. She starred in two seasons of hit CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette, Chuck Lorre and Linda Lavin. Also, it featured Ben Vereen and Hector Elizondo. Additional Broadway credits for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and is now dividing her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
